This policy explains how World Event Guide uses cookies and similar technologies on worldeventguide.com. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
What these technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored by a website in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels, tags and other methods that store information on, or access information from, your device.
What we use
World Event Guide uses essential browser storage for privacy choices and features you request. We also use Google Analytics to measure visits and improve the site, subject to the regional controls explained below. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral advertising pixels or cross-site tracking.
| Technology | Provider | Purpose | When used | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
stcm.weg-ga-v1.* | World Event Guide, using the open-source Silktide Consent Manager | Remembers the regional analytics default or whether you accepted or rejected analytics, and that a choice has been recorded. | When the privacy controls load and when you make or change a choice. | Until you change the choice, clear browser storage or the consent configuration is replaced. |
world-event-guide:saved:<event> | World Event Guide | Remembers whether you saved a particular event on that device. | Only after you select “Save.” | Until you remove the saved event or clear browser storage. |
_ga | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Distinguishes one browser from another for audience measurement. | In the United States, unless you opt out or enable Global Privacy Control. Elsewhere, only after you select “Accept analytics.” | Up to 395 days; World Event Guide configures it not to extend automatically on later visits. |
_ga_XMH4CBM82N | Google Analytics (Google LLC) | Maintains session information for the World Event Guide Analytics property. | In the United States, unless you opt out or enable Global Privacy Control. Elsewhere, only after you select “Accept analytics.” | Up to 395 days; World Event Guide configures it not to extend automatically on later visits. |
The saved-event value remains on your device and is not sent to World Event Guide. Consent storage is essential because it records and respects your privacy choice.
Google Analytics
Firebase Hosting uses the request IP address to select a country-level privacy configuration before the page’s analytics code runs. World Event Guide receives only the resulting regional mode through this mechanism, not your precise location.
For visitors outside the United States, and whenever the country cannot be determined, the Google Analytics tag is blocked completely until you explicitly accept analytics. Before acceptance, the site does not request the Google Analytics script or send an Analytics measurement request. Rejecting analytics leaves the tag blocked.
For visitors in the United States, Google Analytics starts when the page loads unless you previously opted out or your browser sends an enabled Global Privacy Control signal. The site does not show a first-visit consent banner in this mode. You can turn Analytics off at any time through Privacy choices in the footer.
If accepted, Google Analytics measures pages viewed, session and traffic-source information, a randomly generated browser identifier, broad browser and device information, and approximate country-level location. Google Signals, user-provided data, granular location and device collection, and advertising personalization are disabled. See the Privacy Policy for how this information is used and retained.
Google explains how it uses information from sites using its services on its business data responsibility page.
Your choices
Where opt-in applies, the first notice offers equally available choices to accept analytics, reject analytics or review settings. Analytics remains off unless you accept.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by selecting here or in the footer of any page. Turning Analytics off removes World Event Guide’s Google Analytics cookies, stops future Analytics collection and reloads the page without the Analytics tag.
You can also delete cookies and local storage through your browser’s privacy or site-data settings. Blocking browser storage may prevent saved-event preferences and your consent choice from being remembered, but it will not prevent you from reading the site.
Consent manager and technical delivery
We use the open-source Silktide Consent Manager to display and remember privacy choices. Firebase Hosting selects the country-level mode, and Silktide’s files are delivered through jsDelivr. Loading the site may therefore cause our hosting, security and content-delivery providers to process limited request information in server logs, such as IP address, request time and browser information. Server logs are not cookies and do not necessarily store information on your device.
External websites
Our pages link to event organizers, hotels, transport providers, review platforms and other independent websites. World Event Guide does not place their cookies while you remain on our site. If you follow an external link, that website may use cookies under its own policy.
Browser privacy signals
World Event Guide does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not conduct targeted advertising. In the United States, an enabled Global Privacy Control signal also turns off Google Analytics automatically. If our practices change, we will update these controls as required.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the technologies used by the site change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
