World Event Guide publishes independent travel and event-planning information. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, when it may be shared and the choices available to you. It applies to worldeventguide.com and messages or subscriptions submitted through the site.
Who is responsible for your information
World Event Guide is responsible for personal information collected directly through this website. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to contact@worldeventguide.com.
Information we collect
Information you provide
When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, selected reason for contacting us and message. If email updates are offered and you subscribe, we collect your email address and subscription status. We also receive information you include when you email us directly.
Information saved on your device
If you select “Save” on an event, the site stores that choice in your browser’s local storage. The saved-event value remains on that device until you remove the event or clear your browser data. It is not transmitted to World Event Guide and is not used to track you across websites.
The privacy controls also store the regional analytics default or whether you accepted or rejected analytics. See our Cookie Policy for the exact storage names and durations.
Google Analytics information
For visitors in the United States, Google Analytics collects information about pages viewed, session timing, referring pages or campaigns, broad browser and device characteristics, a randomly generated browser identifier, and approximate country-level location unless the visitor opts out or enables Global Privacy Control. For visitors elsewhere, and when location cannot be determined, this collection begins only after the visitor selects “Accept analytics.” Google may process an IP address transiently to provide and secure the service and derive approximate location; Google Analytics does not make an individual IP address available to World Event Guide.
We do not send Google Analytics your name, email address, form contents or a World Event Guide user ID. Google Signals, user-provided data collection, granular location and device data, and advertising personalization are disabled. We do not link this Analytics property to advertising products.
Technical and operational information
Our hosting, security, content-delivery and form-processing providers may automatically process limited technical information such as IP address, request time, requested page, browser or device information, referring page and error or security logs. We use this information to deliver the website, prevent abuse, diagnose failures and protect the service. This operational processing is separate from optional Google Analytics.
Why we use information
- To respond to questions, corrections, event suggestions and other messages.
- To send requested email updates and maintain subscription preferences.
- Subject to regional privacy controls, to measure visits and understand which pages and traffic sources help people discover major events.
- To operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the website.
- To prevent spam, fraud, misuse and technical attacks.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.
Where applicable law requires prior consent, Google Analytics relies on your consent. Where applicable law permits opt-out analytics, we rely on our legitimate interest in basic, privacy-limited audience measurement while providing an opt-out. Information you submit may be used to take steps at your request, respond to you, provide requested updates or comply with law. We also rely on legitimate interests where appropriate to operate and secure an editorial website, prevent abuse, diagnose failures and protect legal rights.
How information is shared
We may provide information to service providers that host the site, process forms, store editorial or subscriber records, deliver email, prevent abuse or provide technical support. These providers may use the information only to perform services for us or as otherwise permitted by law.
If you accept analytics, Google LLC processes Analytics data for World Event Guide under the Google Analytics terms and applicable data-processing terms. Google explains this processing on its business data responsibility page.
We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, investigate misuse, protect people or property, or complete a business reorganization. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
International processing
World Event Guide is intended for a global audience. Our providers, including Google LLC, may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, processing and transfers are subject to contractual or other legally recognized safeguards.
How long we retain information
- Google Analytics user-level and event-level data is configured for deletion after 14 months and is not reset by later user activity. Google’s aggregated standard reports may be retained separately. Analytics cookies are configured for up to 395 days without automatic extension on later visits.
- Contact messages are generally retained for up to 24 months after the last relevant communication, unless a longer period is required for a dispute, legal obligation or security matter.
- Email subscription information is retained until you unsubscribe. We may keep a minimal suppression record so we do not send further messages.
- Operational and security logs are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting and legal compliance.
- Saved-event information and consent choices remain in your browser until you remove them, change the choice or clear browser storage.
Your privacy choices and rights
Outside the United States, and when location cannot be determined, Analytics is off until you accept it. In the United States, Analytics is on unless you opt out or enable Global Privacy Control. You may change your choice at any time through , also available in the footer of every page. Turning Analytics off stops future Analytics collection and removes World Event Guide’s Google Analytics cookies.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an explanation of how your information is used; to object to certain processing; to withdraw consent; or to complain to a privacy regulator. Residents of jurisdictions with sale, sharing or targeted-advertising rights may also opt out where those activities apply.
World Event Guide does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for targeted advertising. If those practices change, we will update this policy and provide the legally required controls, including recognition of qualifying browser-based opt-out signals.
To exercise a privacy right, email contact@worldeventguide.com. We may need to verify your request. Authorized agents may submit requests where applicable law allows it.
Children
World Event Guide is a general-audience travel publication and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
External websites
Our guides link to organizers, hotels, transport providers, review platforms and other independent websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by them, not by World Event Guide. Review their policies before providing information or making a purchase.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site, our providers or applicable requirements change. The effective date above will show the latest revision. Material changes will be presented more prominently where appropriate.
